| IB Retreat
The IB Retreat is an annual feature at Zlatarski
School and is held for Grade 11 IB Diploma students
during the first week of September. The purpose
of this Retreat is to give the students an opportunity
to get together for a couple of days in order to
work with their fellow students and teachers on
some of the key components of the programme.
The retreat introduces students to the wider outlook
of the IB programme, to the course specifications
and the deadlines that have to be met over the two
years ahead. It is the time for students to raise
any questions and express their expectations about
the course of studies. The IB Diploma programme
might appear to be quite stressful due to all the
deadlines that have to be met. It is believed, therefore,
that such a Retreat, before the school year starts,
is extremely beneficial.
The IB Retreat for the IB Class of 2007 takes place
on 8-9 September 2005. During these intense two
days, all IB teachers present their IB subjects,
with the choice of level, requirements and assessment
criteria stated clearly. Each of the 18 IB students
(11 IB grade) enrolled for the IB programme this
year receives a folder with all subject syllabi
and an IB calendar containing the internal assessment
deadlines. Studies start on Monday, 12 September
2005.
