Lower School: 8-10

The Curriculum at Zlatarski School: 8, 9 and 10 grade

In the 8th grade students study English 18 hours weekly using the series of textbooks Upstream (elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate) and with additional appliances and handbooks, elected by the educational system. The School uses  Language practice (Elementary, Intermediate, First Certificate, Advanced) by the publisher MACMILLAN. Whilst applying for the 8th grade, students sit an entry test in English and consequently are divided into classes in accordance to their proficiency in English. The school year ends with a written exam in English. The curriculum in second foreign language begins in the 8th grade.

In 9 and 10 grade students are taught 6 hours weekly using Gold First Certificate and Gold Advanced. The taught subjects in English are geography, history, physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and information technologies. 10th grade is a preliminary year for the education in either the International Baccalaureate or A Levels.
