becomes a well-established member of the international

Dear Zlatarski School Community,

Our School had its first IB Diploma Programme Exams
in May 2005 very close to our tenth anniversary.
Mr Svante Ingler from the IBO conducted an exam
inspection to the school and acknowledged that the
exams were carried out in perfect order and that
the 11 prospective IB graduates and 2 certificate
students were taking the exams confident of a successful
result. It was a pleasure to see our students from
the first IB class finalizing their education at
the school and an honour for us to deliver the ever
first IB Diplomas at a Bulgarian school.
Zlatarski School approached the International Baccalaureate
Organisation in October 2000 with a request to become
an IBO member school, and started a serious preparation
process for authorization including several visits
to the school by Monica Flodman, Teuvo Laurinolli
from the IBO and Barbara Gostisa from an IB school
in Zagreb, Croatia. The final authorisation visit
was undertaken on 21-22 November 2002 and the authorisation
letter was issued on 11 February 2003. After 2,5
years of preparation work the first ever IB World
School was established in Bulgaria.
It was extremely hard work to establish an IB school
and especially hard when Zlatarski School - Sofia
was the pioneer of IB education in Bulgaria, but
it is evident that the work has paid off and we
are now a well-established member of the international
family of schools.
I am now, highly pleased with the exam results
of our students, looking forward to seeing many
IB graduates to be examined at the school in years
to come. We also hope that many other schools in
Bulgaria will introduce the IBO programmes and we
are willing and ready to provide support to such
schools should they want to become IB World Schools.
On behalf of the school management, I would like
to wish all our teachers, staff, students and parents,
a wonderful summer break. I am looking forward to
welcoming you all in September 2005.
Sincerely,
Tsvetanka Kardasheva
Director
